– PROLOGUE –
The Frida Kahlo School in Schweich is an inclusive school in which students with and without disabilities are taught and encouraged to interact with one another in a carefree manner and to learn with joy.
The three-part work canon MIRROR, MIRROR… in the foyer, CANON OF COLORS in the cafeteria and COLORFUL VIEW in the outdoor area create a meaningful connection between these three locations. They appeal to the senses with simple and familiar means. The development of ideas has its origins in the work of the artist Frida Kahlo and at the same time abstracts it: strong colors and self-portraits – here in the form of mirror images – come from her works and motifs; they encourage perception and self-observation – also in the group.

COLORFUL VIEW in the outdoor area of the Frida Kahlo School: Here, colored glasses stand freely in the (outdoor) space and are flooded with light. At the same time, a dialogue is created with the artistic intervention FARBKANON (CANON OF COLORS) in the interior.
Six slim glass panels are each set in a metal frame and mounted on a point so that they can move slowly around their vertical axis.
The colors are transparent so that you can see through them and everything behind them is optically immersed in color. Light falling through creates colored light surfaces on the black, white and gray floor covering. The view through several color panels placed one behind the other creates new color mixtures.
Overall, the arrangement forms an equilateral triangle. This means that two or three glass panels are on one axis and the view through several color discs expands the color spectrum to include the respective color mixtures.

The distances between the panels are chosen so that it is possible to walk or drive through them in a wheelchair.
